Roll Up Door Installation Atlanta

Your business type, the type of building and space, as well as your specific needs will determine the type of overhead door that you select for your place of business. Some of the key factors to consider in selecting a commercial overhead door are:

How often is your overhead door used? If it is heavily used you need to consider high cycle springs, bigger tracks, heavy cable, or heavier gauge steel.

Is your building insulated? If it is, consider an insulated overhead door. Sectional doors are available in varying degrees of thickness with polystyrene insulation sandwiched between heavy gauge metal and skin. The energy savings should be significant if your building requires this type.

How wide does your door need to be? Sectional doors are more economical for openings under 16 feet while rolling steel overhead doors will provide longer life and function better for openings over 16 feet.

Determine each door's opening width and height requirements.

How tall does your overhead door need to be? Do you have a vehicle lift or other heavy equipment that may interfere with the garage door track?

What are the fire code specifications for your building? We can provide fire-rated doors that automatically close in case of fire.

Determine desired aesthetic: Rib Panel, Raised Panel and/or Embossed pattern, along with desired finish/color.

Lastly, consider the type of finish that is available in factory baked-on enamel.

General Types of Commercial Doors

Sectional Doors

Commercial sectional doors are appropriate when thermal efficiency is a concern, where window space is desired for light or visibility, or simply for aesthetic reasons. Sectional doors also operate quietly and generate little noise in windy applications. They require significant backroom or headroom, depending on the application. This product family includes thermal, ribbed, rail and stile, and raised panel doors.

Rolling Doors

CCommercial rolling doors are appropriate in demanding environments requiring maximum durability and security. These types of doors require minimal backroom, headroom and sideroom. And they are able to fit in tight spaces not appropriate for sectional doors. Rolling doors are constructed of interlocking slats that wind around a barrel and they are used for service doors as well as counter shutters. Security grilles that you might find in a mall also fit into this category.

Fire Doors

CFire doors have some of the same construction characteristics as rolling doors, and commercial fire doors are specified in facilities that require a listed fire door in a rated firewall. Fire doors are normally set to automatically close the door at 165 F. Electronic sensor for heat and smoke, or a building's alarm system can also trigger the door's descent. The fire door is used as both service doors and counter shutters.

Traffic Doors

CThese are similar in construction to a rolling service door, and traffic doors feature a high-strength fabric, rather than a metal curtain. This lighter material means that traffic doors achieve faster speeds when traveling, which make them ideal for high cycle applications. Additionally they are easily maintained as the curtain can simply be replaced back in it's guide without the need for a service call.
